Personality:
The easiest way to describe Yosuke would be a (mostly) normal teenager. On the outside, he’s a cheerful and goofy boy, who has a tendency to get himself in bad situations. Not only is he extremely clumsy (like repeatedly falling off his bike), but he's also got extraordinary "foot in mouth" disease. Yosuke tends to not think before he speaks, often coming up with something extremely offensive or insensitive that gets him in trouble. For example, his comments towards Kanji especially are homophobic at times, which always gets under his skin and starts an argument.
Yosuke also has a bit of a temper on him. He's quick to anger at times, as shown between some of his interactions with Chie and the others. Most of the time it's over something kind of silly, like when Chie ran up his card trying to buy clothes for Teddie. It's usually played off as a gag in the game.
On a more serious note, his determination and passion for solving the murders also makes him quick to anger. Even though Saki hadn't liked him in life, she's still a driving force behind his want to solve the murders. Talking bad about her makes him quick to anger, wanting to protect her even in death. But his anger towards the murders make him go a little too far, such as when he wants to throw Namatame into the TV before figuring out who the real killer was (and effectively kill him). Yu going along with it ultimately ends in there being a bad ending, as Namatame was not actually the true murderer.
At first, Yosuke is extremely insecure about moving to Inaba. He fears that this is what causes his disconnect from his friends back in the city, and thinks that he's going to be too bored being out in the country. His Shadow points out that that's why he went to the TV world for the first time with Yu, despite saying that it was to figure out what happened to Saki. He admits later that he was jealous of Yu becoming the "hero" of the story, and not him himself... but all of this he faces and moves past from as he grows closer to the Investigation Team. His love for his friends overcomes his distaste for Inaba, and he grows to love the country as well.
While Yosuke may seem like an idiot at first glance, he's actually pretty logical at times. He's more or less the deductive "brain" behind the Investigation Team until Naoto comes along, asking the right questions at the right times and coming up with conclusions that the rest of his friends don't notice. He's one of the ones who helps guide the team along with the facts of the case, instead of just floundering with the facts.
While he can be seen in some serious lights, he's still a teenager at heart. Yosuke thinks of himself as a "ladies man", and flirts with any cute girl that comes across him. While these interactions never end well, it doesn't deter him. One of his most notable crushes was on Rise, mentioning often how cute she is and how she'd like to see her in a swimsuit. Rise doesn't seem to listen to him, but it doesn't dampen his want to talk about her and how cute she is.
Abilities: Yosuke physically fight with his kunai. He also has the persona Susano-o of the Magician Arcana, a wind-based persona that manifested when he faced his "true self".
